Resourceful?

One day last week Emma Catherine wanted a bracelet that I put on top of her dresser before nap time. I told her she could wear it after nap. When she woke up, this is what I found.

She had piled up approximately 50 books or so to reach the bracelet and she had it on. I had to turn my head to not laugh.

Two other updates:

1. Our new camera lens came today...hooray! We got a great deal on ebay and it takes great pictures.

2. Today Ryan opened the grill and all 3 baby birds were dead. I'm not gonna lie, I was really sad. I don't know what happened because we've seen the parents bring them worms, but they're gone, and if we can help it, there will be no more nests or birds in our grill. We are still debating over what to do with the grill. I'm not sure I can eat something cooked on it, but Ryan thinks that the heat will kill anything gross in there. I'm not sure I can get over the mental image.

100th post and the walker

I thought for my 100th post, I should post about something exciting like Bailey walking. It has been a long time coming because she has been so cautious. Over Spring break she was taking a few steps at a time and that was in march. She is now taking long walks by herself and chooses to walk more and more. She definitely still crawls, but walking is starting to take over. She is so proud of herself and when we say, "yea, Bailey," she claps for herself.

More Friends!

Guess what????
Our baby birds hatched! We are not exactly sure when, but this is what we saw when Ryan opened the grill Saturday night. There are actually 3 babies in the nest but one is almost on top of the other two.

The Yard Sale

Well, today was the big yard sale day. It was a big success with lots of great weather. This was our first yard and Ryan and I actually had a good time. We sold a lot of things and made enough money to buy a new camera lens to replace the one that Bailey broke over spring break, with money to spare. Our neighbors beside us and across from us both had sales so the kids had a blast going from house to house.

This what it looked like before the people came, about 6:45 am.
At one point later in the morning Emma Catherine decided she needed to be priced (for $2.00). You can see the blanket she is sitting on is almost empty and it was once completely filled with toys.
Ryan is already talking about participating in the neighborhood yard sale in the fall....we'll have to see.

Incredible!

Incredible is all I can say about 2 things that happened today. First was that Emma Catherine has taken a nap both days at school this week. This is incredible because she hasn't taken a nap at school since October. Usually when we get home from school, she has to go upstairs and take a nap or at least rest. The deal I made with her back at the beginning of the school year was that if she took a nap at school, she could stay downstairs and play with me. She has been so excited to be with me while Bailey sleeps. Today, though, I really had to work on pricing things for our neighborhood garage sale because our garage looked like this.Which leads me to the second incredible thing. Emma Catherine got to put on her swimsuit and play with her water table. At the beginning of the week we were wearing jackets and pants and today was warm enough for a bathing suit...hooray! We have been anxiously awaiting warm weather and finally it came!

Family Visit

This past weekend my aunt and my grandpa came into town for a visit. We were so glad to see them and we had a great time. On Saturday we took advantage of the great weather and we took the girls downtown to the river park.
By the river park is a large hill that we noticed kids sliding down on cardboard boxes. My aunt asked if Emma Catherine would try it, but assured her that she wouldn't because she is scared of everything. They asked her though and much to my surprise, she said yes. She went down once with her daddy and then was willing to try it by herself. I couldn't believe it considering this was my child who took 2 years to swing on her baby swing. The picture doesn't do it justice but it was a big hill.
We played outside some...
and what trip would be complete without shopping? Over Christmas my aunt gave us a buffet that was my great grandmother's. We put it in our entry way and filled it with toys, but otherwise we have done nothing with it. The top has been empty and so has the wall and the floor. My aunt and I spent all Saturday afternoon looking for things to decorate it with. After going to homegoods, world market, tjmaxx, 2 targets, michaels, and hobby lobby, this is what we came up with.

Again, the picture does not do it justice but I really like how it turned out. My aunt was such a huge help because I am not good at decorating. The color I used was a dark red which is a new color for me. Most of our house is in blues but I wanted something new. My aunt suggested I start with the rug so I found the rug at homegoods first and we went from there. It was a long day but totally worth it. Thank you Noni.

Our Friends (still here)

Some people have been asking what has happened to our friends, the birds living in our grill. Don't worry, they are still there. Unfortunately the original egg ended up cracked on our deck. I don't think it could have fallen out so I think the birds must have kicked it out of the nest. I'm afraid we may have opened the grill and looked at the egg too much. About a week later though, 3 new eggs appeared in the nest. So far these eggs have been fine and I see the birds going in and of the grill. We have tried not to open the grill so that these eggs will hatch, but we will have to see. Today I saw the bird fly away so I snapped a quick picture. We'll keep you posted on what's happening with our "friends."

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a great Easter. We definitely did. We are so thankful for Jesus and the resurrection. We are also thankful for a fabulous church. What an incredible service we had yesterday. We also had a great time being with family on Easter.

Emma Catherine was excited to see what the Easter bunny left outside her door.
Bailey checked out her basket too

After Emma Catherine woke up from her nap, we let her find her Easter eggs in the backyard. Bailey was so tired from a busy weekend, that we let her sleep right though the hunt. She did have some eggs though, that were filled with yogurt melts and puffs. We were so sad to see my parents leave, but we were so thankful to have them with us for the week.

Easter Party

Today Emma Catherine had an Easter party at her school. She was so excited that her Mia and Grampy were going to be in town to go with her. My mom decided to make a cake for the party and she let Emma Catherine help her. First they mixed...
Then they licked...Then they iced...Then we took it to school to share with Emma Catherine's class! It is has been so great having my parents here this week. The the girls have had school, gymnastics, AWANA, etc and they have been able to see what a normal week is like for me. My mom and I have also found time for some shopping (of course). We also celebrated my dad's birthday on Tuesday. Luckily they have a few more days left!
