Vacation Bible School

Last week was Vacation Bible School at our church. The theme was Outrigger Island and we all had such a good time. I have to admit I had a very easy job during the week. My friend Whitney and I manned the supply room. We were the only ones allowed in there and we got the supplies that the teachers needed and kept records. We both have nursing babies so it was the perfect job for us, and it gave us lots of time to talk. Even though Emma Catherine is only 2, she got to go to music class and she made crafts. It has been fun to see her do the motions to the songs she learned. On Friday night they had a Family Night and the kids sang the songs they had learned. It was optional for the 2 year olds, but we thought we would give it a chance. It did not go very well. Emma Catherine mostly wandered around the back of the stage and didn't really want to stand and sing. Oh well, at least we tried. In the top picture Bailey is modeling her island outfit and Emma Catherine is showing her VBS shirt. (She loved wearing it because she got to match mommy.)

This is music time. Notice Emma Catherine isn't facing the stage.

A little boy and Emma Catherine are fighting over the microphone while the music minister was praying.

This is Emma Catherine wandering around the back of the stage.

We did get her to stand at the front of the stage for just a second, but she's not facing the crowd.

"I want my Mommy." She had enough.

A No Nap Kind of Day

This week we have been going to Vacation Bible School (more about that in another post) at our church and you would think that Emma Catherine would be tired and therefore take a great nap...just kidding. She didn't sleep at all this afternoon. She tried everything to get my attention and then she resorted to making a mess of her room. See picture below
As you can see, she pulled out almost all of her clothes out of her drawers and threw a pile of them over her gate. I'm not sure if you can tell but in the back of the picture are a lot of DVD cases. We store her Disney movie cases high on a shelf in her closet and she climbed up in her closet and pulled them down. You might also be wondering what that blue sheet is in the background. That was our cheap attempt to block the light from coming into her room. We thought maybe she would sleep later...it really hasn't helped much. The children are singing the VBS music at church tonight, and we're not sure how well she'll do because she of her no nap and well, she is 2!

The 5th Year

Saturday, June 21st, was our 5th anniversary. Five years have flown by and it seems like yesterday that we were just in Palmetto getting married and trying to survive through the constant rain. Due to the fact that we have 2 young children we weren't planning on really getting to celebrate the big day, but Lauren called on Friday and offered to come up to babysit the girls for us and we gladly accepted her offer. We went to a fun restaurant called, The Station House, where the waiters all take turns singing on a stage. Some sang in groups and some sang solos and they sang all kinds of music from southern gospel, to oldies, to contemporary songs. They also give you so much food. We had such a good time thinking about how far we've come in 5 years. When we came home Lauren told us that she'd had a little bit of a rough time with the girls...Bailey wouldn't take a bottle, and Emma Catherine wouldn't go to bed, so she may not offer to babysit again, but we were thankful for the night out this time. Below I've posted a couple of wedding pictures...we were such babies.

Prattville

This Saturday we went to visit Ryan's parents in Prattville. It worked out that it was Father's Day so we got to share the day with Ryan's dad. Ryan's dad actually had open heart surgery a little over 2 weeks ago. They had to replace a valve in his heart and the surgery went very well. Ryan went down for the surgery but the girls and I were out of town so this was our first time seeing him since his surgery. I was surprised at how well he is doing but he has lost a lot of weight. We had a good time visiting with them and we are so glad that Ryan's dad is starting to recover!

A Fun Week!

***warning...this will be a long post!***

Last week my mom and Kaylee came to visit us. Kaylee was actually the flower girl in our wedding almost 5 years ago (this Saturday), and for the past 3 years she has come to visit us for one week in the summer. We had such a fabulous time and Kaylee was so great with Emma Catherine. I was definitely sad to see them leave. Of course, while they were here, we took a lot of pictures. I couldn't decide the best way to post them all, so I decided to bite the bullet and just make one long post telling about our week.

We spent a lot of time at our neighborhood pool during the week. Almost every afternoon we went to the pool before dinner and we also went on Saturday and Sunday. It was also Bailey's first time in the pool.

On Tuesday we took them to an indoor playground called PlayWorld Down Under. Emma Catherine loves it and Kaylee had fun too. They also made a friend while we were there and it turns out that she lives in our neighborhood.

They also enjoyed playing outside in the afternoons. They played with Emma Catherine's water table and ran in the sprinkler. They also played in the sandbox and we put Bailey in the swing for the first time. I can't believe how hot it is here. My mom and I were sweating so much while we were watching them play.

On Thursday we took them to the Creative Discovery Museum. They had a new Clifford the Big Red Dog exhibit that Emma Catherine loved. Lauren drove over on Wednesday night so she went with us.
The last pictures are just miscellaneous pictures from the week.

Mary Kay here she comes

While we were in Florida we decided that Emma Catherine may not need to go to college because she is going to work for Mary Kay. She will get into make-up or lotion at any chance she gets. Because we had to live out of our suitcases for a week, she would get into them and get out my make-up if I left it on the floor. You would think that I would have learned my lesson and not let it happen more than once. Believe it or not, these pictures all took place on the same day. There were some other make-up issues but I didn't get pictures due to me being too fustrated to get the camera.

Trip to Florida

I haven't posted in awhile because we spent last week in Florida visiting my parents and also celebrating my birthday with my family. It's a family tradition that everyone's birthday must be celebrated with the whole family together even if it's a month late. We had a great time there even though my parents were still in school.Emma Catherine helping open my presentsPapa and Bailey girl Ryan and Lauren took Emma Catherine to the beach while my aunt and I went beading. (It was my present from her.)
