Snow Day

Last Friday morning I watched the weather report as I was getting ready and it said that Chattanooga was not going to get much snow but a lot of rain. We proceeded about our day, which included Emma Catherine's 4 year check up. Luckily, we were home by lunch time because at about 1:00 it started snowing...
and it didn't stop until sometime in the middle of the night. They said Chattanooga got about 5 inches of snow which is the most snow here since 1993. It was fun to watch the snow falling from inside of our warm house, but outside, it was tough conditions for those of the road. Ryan left work at 3:45 and didn't get home until 6:45, which is usually a 30 minute trip. Our neighbors couldn't get down our road so they had to get a hotel for the night. It was crazy in a fun sort of way. This is outside our front door around 10 pm.
On Saturday we were excited to let the girls play in the snow, but it didn't last long. They played outside for about 30 minutes until they were both ready to come in. Ryan did manage to build a snowman with them though. A problem we had is that we don't own appropriate snow clothing and especially shoes. We covered Bailey's feet in bags so her feet wouldn't get so wet but Emma Catherine wouldn't let us do it to her. Bailey, on the other hand wasn't a fan of her gloves or hat. When we came in we turned on the fireplace and played and played and the girls were much happier. When the neighbors finally did make it home, they asked Emma Catherine to come back out but she told them she wanted to stay inside and to come get her when they were ready to play inside the house.
