Mom of the Year

So, I definitely think I should be a mom of the year candidate for this next story.  Emma Catherine has had another loose tooth for awhile now and on the way home from school last Thursday, it became VERY loose.  After some major dramatics that included saying that she couldn't walk up the stairs because of her loose tooth, it very easily came out.  Also, I need to mention that she pulled it out.  Thankfully I haven't had to pull any teeth yet and I hope that I don't have too because I really don't like to see loose teeth.  When I taught 1st grade, I sent my kids with loose teeth to another class for another teacher to help.

When the tooth came out, I set it on the island in the kitchen so I could take care of the bleeding.  After the bleeding stopped, I had to get Bailey down for her nap.  After that I completely forgot about the tooth.  Later on I was cleaning up the island and I scooped some crumbs off the counter and tossed them into the sink.  I never once thought about the tooth.  Before dinner I happened to remember the tooth, but it was too late.  It was gone.  Yep, mom of the year...threw my daughter's tooth in the sink.

Thankfully, Emma Catherine handled it better than I thought she would.  I told her that we would write the tooth fairy a note to leave it outside of her door.  This is the note she completely dictated to me.
After reading the last post on the tooth fairy, my sister in law reminded me about the tooth fairy pillow she had given to Bailey when she was a baby.  I found it and we hung it on the door so that "no one" would come into her room.  We left the note on the floor outside her door and she was content with that.  I felt absolutely horrible but was so glad she was okay with the whole situation.  Next time, I am going to be much more careful.

Here she is with 2 missing teeth.  (Although the first permanent tooth is almost completely in)

On a side note, my mom saved all my teeth and not too long ago GAVE THEM TO Me! I was like, Mom, what in the world??? GROSS!

And though different, I've lost both the teeth Sister lost over the summer.
